Giving someone access to manage Pay Super

Once you've set up Pay Super, a Pay Super Administrator can add other people to create, authorise or manage your superannuation payments.

To do this:

  • invite the person to MYOB Business, then

  • add the person as a Pay Super user and choose their role.

Only Pay Super Administrators can set up other Pay Super users

When Pay Super was set up for your business, one or more Pay Super Administrators were nominated. More about Pay Super roles

If you need to add a Pay Super user but can't access your Pay Super settings, ask the file owner to check your Pay Super access.

If no-one in your business can manage your Pay Super settings, contact us.

Invite the user to MYOB Business

If the person you want to manage your super payments isn't already a user in your MYOB file, you'll need to invite them.

  1. In MYOB Business, click the settings menu (⚙️) and choose Users and permissions.

  2. Click Create user to open the Create user page.

  3. Enter the user’s Name and Email. Each user must have a unique email address. You can’t use an email address that’s been used for another user.

  4. In the Access section:

    1. Select the roles and permissions you want to give the user. For example, select Payroll if you only want them to manage super. More about access levels

    2. Choose the User type – this determines which businesses the user can access, and whether they can invite other users:

      • File user – can only access the current business and can't invite other users

      • Online admin — can only access the current business and can also invite other users

  5. Click Save and send invitation.

The invited user must accept their invitation and complete the MYOB account setup. This ensures they will be available to add as a Pay Super user in the next task.

More about inviting users and inviting an accountant or bookkeeper.

Add the user to Pay Super in your payroll settings

Once the person is set up as a user in MYOB Business, add them as a Pay Super user and choose their role.

  1. In MYOB Business, go to the settings menu (⚙️ ) and choose Payroll settings.

  2. Click the Superannuation payments tab.

  3. Under Pay Super roles, choose the person you want to add. If the person you want to add isn't listed, make sure they've accepted their invitation to your MYOB Business (see above).

  4. Choose a Role to control what this person can do in Pay Super, such as create or approve payments or manage settings. More about roles

  5. If the person's role is Pay Super Administrator or Authoriser, enter their Mobile number. This is needed to receive authorisation codes via SMS when authorising super payments.

  6. Choose how many authorisers need to authorise each super payment. Only choose two if you require any two Pay Super Administrators or Authorisers to authorise each super payment.

  7. Click Save.

If you're adding the person as a Pay Super Administrator or Authoriser, an email is sent to them to verify their mobile number. So ask the person to check their email to start the verification process.

FAQs

Why isn’t a mobile number being accepted?

If a mobile number isn’t accepted while setting up Pay Super or updating your Pay Super authoriser details, the number format may need correcting before you can continue.

You may find that:

  • Your mobile number won’t save.

  • The number is rejected as invalid.

  • Nothing happens after you enter the number.

  • You can’t continue with Pay Super setup.

This issue occurs when entering or saving your mobile number. It’s different from a problem receiving a verification or authorisation code.

How do I fix the problem?

Try the following steps:

  1. Check that you’re entering an Australian mobile number, not a landline.

  2. Enter the number in local format, starting with 04 followed by the remaining digits.

    Example: 0439 123 456

  3. If that doesn’t work, try the international format using +61 and remove the first 0.

    Example: +61 439 123 456

  4. Re-enter the number and save it again. If you used +61, try 04 instead. If you used 04, try +61.

  5. If the field still rejects the number, refresh the page and enter it again carefully. Remove spaces or extra characters if needed, and check that no digits are missing or duplicated.

Once your number is accepted and saved, continue with Pay Super setup.
