Accepting an invitation to a client file

You can accept invitations from your clients to work on their MYOB Business or AccountRight Live file.

Key things to know

  • You receive an email when clients invite you to a file.

  • If you work with multiple practices, choose which practices to link to the file when you accept the invitation.

  • If the client invited you directly to the file, that access may need to be removed in the file itself from MYOB Business or AccountRight Live later.

Accept the invitation from the email

  1. Open the email and click Accept invitation.

An email message explaining that you've been invited to a business, with an Accept invitation button highlighted.
  2. Sign in using your MYOB account details if prompted.

  3. If you work with multiple practices, select the practice or practices you want to link to the file.

Accept invitation page, with checkboxes highlighted in the section with the description "As you work with multiple practices, you'll need to choose the practice this file is associated with".

The practices you select when you accept the invitation determine which practice you'll need to choose when you sign in to Practice Compliance to work on the file.

Your selection also affects which files your Practice Administrator can see when giving access to client files.

  4. Click Accept invitation.

  5. Click Yes, link on the confirmation dialog.

Accept invitation page with the Accept invitation button highlighted, and Link to multiple practice dialogue with the Yes, link button highlighted.
  6. Check if you can see the file in the Client files page and, if you can't, request access to the file from your Practice Administrator.

If you can't see the file in Practice Compliance

After you accept the invitation, your Practice Administrator may still need to give you access to the file in Practice Compliance in Settings (the cog) > Users > Manage file access

If you still can't see the file, try refreshing your browser.

If more users need access

If a client has already invited one user from your practice to the file, it's usually better to give any additional user access through Practice Compliance instead of asking the client to keep inviting more users.

This makes file access easier for your practice to manage later.

If you need to remove access

If the client invited you directly to the file, that access may need to be removed in the file itself in MYOB Business or AccountRight Live.

For example, if you accepted the client's invitation as an advisor, or if the file owner invited you directly, you can't remove access in Practice Compliance.
