Trusted advisors supporting local SMEs recognised in MYOB 2024 Partner Awards

Business management platform MYOB is celebrating the commitment and dedication of local accountants, bookkeepers and education providers and recognising the critical role they play in the success of the nation’s small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), with its 2024 MYOB Partner Awards.

Judged by a panel of experts from MYOB as well as representatives in the industry, including Di Crawford-Errington - President of the Institute of Certified NZ Bookkeepers and Liz Stamford - General Manager Smaller Practices, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), the awards celebrate excellence across a broad range of categories.

Run across Australia and New Zealand, 2024 marks the 16th year of the awards. Among the major award winners in New Zealand are Hamilton-based Singh & Associates, which took out the award for Accounting Practice of the Year, and JK Business Systems - also based in Hamilton and serving the Waikato region – which won Bookkeeping Practice of the Year.

Commending their significant efforts to incorporate MYOB into their courses to provide practical assistance to students preparing for their accounting careers, Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa Massey University’s School of Accountancy has been recognised as the MYOB New Zealand Education Partner of the Year for 2024.

This year’s awards also saw the introduction of new categories recognising innovation and advocacy within the profession. Recognising their efforts to achieve business gains and efficiency through innovation, Melbourne-based Accounts NextGen was the winner of the Accounting Practice Award for Innovation and Impact, and Prudential Accounting & Taxation took out the Bookkeeping Practice Award in the category.

Prudential Accounting & Taxation, based in Papakura (Auckland), was also named the inaugural MYOB Advocate of the Year, for their commitment and impressive results as they support their clients using MYOB.

MYOB Chief Executive Officer, Paul Robson, says the Partner Awards are an important part of recognising the enormous contribution the sector makes, as they support the growth and success of local SMEs in their community.

“The wide-ranging skills and talents of our local accountants and bookkeepers are integral to the businesses that power our economy. They offer trusted counsel and help them with a broad range of tasks to give them the freedom to focus on what they love to do, and ultimately achieve their full business potential,” says Paul.

“As the business environment changes, we’ve seen that bookkeepers, accountants and education providers are evolving with it. They are leveraging new technology and more efficient workflows to enable business success, and equipping the next generation of advisors with the tools and experience that will support them to excel in the workforce. Their contribution to the business sector is invaluable, which is why we continue to recognise, celebrate and support them in their roles.”
